CIPP requires a minimum open diameter for the liner to be inserted and inflated. A fully collapsed or crushed pipe with no remaining bore cannot be lined — it must be excavated and replaced, or addressed with pipe bursting. A severely deformed pipe with some remaining opening may be a candidate for CIPP with pre-lining point repair to restore enough bore for liner insertion.
